Hey everyone,

We’re happy to say things are going great and we’re around three weeks out from full shipping!

We’ve received the majority of the pens and bases now, which are all undergoing quality inspections and packing, getting ready for shipping.

After the inspections and packing, the finalised addresses are our final bottleneck as we gear up for shipping.

Pledge Survey

Please note that over 300 of you haven’t completed your surveys, so please put your email in here and fill that out to avoid further delays with your rewards.

Address Updates

Since our last update we’ve had significantly more of you who want to update your addresses than we’d expected, so we’ve had to hold off preparing the labels until we’ve got all the final addresses.

As the requests have still been coming in through to this week, we’d like to show you that you can manually update your address without the need to message us about it.

Simply follow this link to request another survey link and you can make edits to your addresses directly via your survey:

pen2.backerkit.com

You can make changes within the next 72 hours before we lock them and we won’t be able to accommodate further changes, so we encourage you to follow the link above, request another survey link and look over your pledge, even if you haven’t moved address.

Adding further delays for address changes would be unfair to other backers, so any changes made after this 72 hour cutoff may not be accepted and any rewards sent to the wrong address will have to wait for them to be returned to sender before reshipping at a fee.

Changes to your pledge

If there are any changes to the pledge you want to make, such as quantities and colours, we can only accommodate them within the next 72 hours before they’re finalised and we won’t be able to edit them after this time.

If you can’t edit them on your BackerKit survey as above, please contact us at:

[email protected]

Please note that we can’t provide any refunds at this time, as the funds have already been pre-allocated and the pens have been produced.

Final notes

Thank you for being so patient with us and helping us bring the ForeverPens to life!

Best regards,

World’s Tiniest

Hi everyone,

We hope you’re all well and safe.

We’ve received just over a quarter of the pens, so the project should be coming onto quality assurance and shipping next.

Restrictions in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is now however, in the midst of the worst Coronavirus outbreak there has ever been, from cases in the thousands going up to one million in the last few days. Many restrictions have been put in place, so pretty much everything we need to complete has either frozen up or is going incredibly slowly.

To understand what’s going on at the minute, here’s some recent news from the region:

https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/hong-kong-leader-says-plans-review-covid-restrictions-monday-2022-03-20/

We’re awaiting further news from our partners about how this will go, however they estimate things will be back up and running within a week or two when the restrictions are lifted.

We’ll keep you updated on the situation as things progress, but we think that we’ll be on track to ship around mid April instead, so there’s not long left until you’ll start receiving your pens.

Update Addresses

Now is a good opportunity to update your addresses as we haven’t started shipping just yet.

Please do so here: https://pen2.backerkit.com/

Thank you for your patience throughout the entire project. Your enthusiasm and kind words mean a lot to us.

We’re close to the finish line with just a few more steps to go!

Best wishes and we hope you’re all safe,

World’s Tiniest

Hey everyone,

We hope you’re all doing great, here’s a quick update on what’s been happening.

Chinese New Year

With Chinese New Year coming to an end, all the factory production staff will be returning and getting back to work on finalising your pens. Most of them should be back by this coming week.

They’ve been away for over three weeks, as most staff left before the official holiday started, so we’re as frustrated as you are, as we really wanted to get at least the QC stage completed by now.

Shipping Timeline

More production has taken place since our last update and a lot of our bodies and tips are undergoing their factory quality checks before we’re able to receive them.

When they arrive, we’ll need to go through assembly and packaging before we can start shipping.

In this case, we expect shipping to take place around Mid-late March.

Here are some of the finalised bodies we wanted to share with you:

ForeverPen Pro bodies
ForeverPen Brass bodies
ForeverPen Copper bodies

If you need to get in contact with us about anything like a change of address, simply email us at: [email protected]

Thank you everyone

It’s been a long road so far, with all the things happening in the world that have been out of our control - like Covid and the energy crisis - we’ve always had you guys to help keep us motivated.

We know things have been quite delayed now with these challenges, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We’re doing everything we can to have your ForeverPens to you as soon as we can.

Thank you for sticking with us and for your kind words of encouragement, you guys are awesome!

Kindest regards,

World’s Tiniest

Hey everyone,

We hope you’re all doing great. We’re back with some great news!

-

Update to the shipping deadline

We can now confidently say that we’ll be shipping towards February-March as the Chinese New Year starts soon in February and there are nationwide holidays for over two weeks.

With the QC and assembly as the main tasks ahead of us, everything else should be very manageable and hopefully you should be receiving your pens soon!

-

Here’s what’s been happening:

-

Pen Bodies

The pen bodies have nearly finished production!

Both Copper and Brass are nearing full completion and should be ready to move onto their internal QC before being sent for assembly.

Titanium is nearing completion at around 90% - as we underestimated the amount we needed for the new Pro Edition we released mid-project, so now we’re in the process of getting some more Titanium and the rest of them shouldn’t take long at all.

-

Pen Tips

Production is well underway and already at around 40% in the space of a few short weeks!

We’ve seen the final tips installed into a few pens and we can say they’re looking amazing. They’re much better and more centred than before.

From our last update, we’ve put a small copper nut inside that greatly increases the longevity of the pen and helps keep the tip head centred and steady over time.

To avoid the tips getting scratched in transit, we’ve opted to have them individually packed.

Here’s a look at our first few sets of tips:

-

ForeverBase

Everything is looking good with your ForeverBases too!

The CNCs have been working their way through all your bases and soon we should be seeing those come to completion too!

Around 500 of those are already completed, as it takes slightly longer due to the larger girth of the Titanium rods.

-

Packaging

We’re due to receive some samples of the final packaging we’ve been working on that’ll significantly reduce our carbon waste footprint.

We’ve worked out a new way to package our pens too, avoiding the use of plastic wherever we can. Unfortunately, we’ve had to use some plastic that covers the pens to ensure they don’t get any exposure to outside friction, water and the elements in general. That way we can be sure they’ll arrive to you perfect.

-

Thank you for your support throughout the entire project, and helping bring the ForeverPen to life!

-

Kind regards,

Worlds Tiniest

Mon Dec 6 '21 Announcement
over 2 years ago – Mon, Dec 06, 2021 at 07:10:39 AM

Hey everyone,

We hope you’re well and we’re back with an update on your ForeverPens.

-

Here’s the rundown.

Pen Tips

Upon starting full production, we learned that the processes and machinery used for the higher quantity production are different to those used for all the samples - even the production samples.

Since all the tips are being made with them, we wanted to do one final check and briefly paused production to get a real sample from the actual production.

We noticed that a number of the tips that were coming out had ever so slightly been off-center or smaller than the pen bodies - which were very exact. After working really hard with the factory, they were able to solve this using a copper nut threaded into the inside to keep it straight. As copper is readily available and easily made to spec, some additional tooling is needed and that should fully balance every tip.

The tooling should arrive in the next week or so and from there we will briefly start production again to confirm the tips for the final time before they’re all made. The factory has also assured us they will check the tolerances of every tip before it’s approved and sent to us.

This is by far our biggest bottleneck with this project and we’re doing everything we can to speed it up.

Here are two examples of misaligned pens we've received:

-

Pen Bodies

We’re absolutely delighted to tell you that the pen bodies are doing really well, as nearly two-thirds of them have been completed to date.

Both Copper and Brass are around 70% done in total and Titanium is over 50% done, (this includes the ForeverPen Pros) so we’re doing really well for time.

As these bodies are made from materials that can be sourced and handled easier, we were able to get these done much faster than the pen tips.

-

ForeverBase

On another positive note, the ForeverBases are coming along really well too, as we’ve now reviewed our first few units from production.

With these, initially the CNC was going to bore all the way through, which is why we were going to add a pad to the bottom, but ever since then, we’ve been working with the factory to tighten the tolerances and make the entire bottom smooth so there aren’t any holes.

The bases look amazing and have quite a bit of weight to them, so you can use them as a cool little paperweight for your desk. Here’s a closer look at the bottom, it’s fully sealed and smooth, so you can roll the Pure Titanium around in your hands.

-

Packaging

We want to avoid waste where possible, so we’ve been looking for the most sustainable and carbon-friendly forms of packaging we can get. When we pressed our manufacturers on the issue, we found that a lot of gift packaging used significant amounts of plastic in their designs that couldn’t be recycled.

Plastic packaging actually accounts for nearly 70% of all plastic waste in the UK. We’ve sought to minimise our impact by using only recyclable card-based black boxes that feature our identifiers and a print of our logo.

This way, we’re offsetting 50,000 x times the amount of plastic waste that could potentially have been created. We know how important this is to many of our backers who message us about this and we’re delighted to tell you we’re always listening to your feedback.

-

Final Thoughts

We completely understand why some of you are disappointed and want your pens as soon as possible. We really want to see our pens out in the world too, but at this time midway through production, there isn’t much we can do to speed it up as the processes are out of our hands.

It’s also a time that refunds can’t be offered as the funds have already been sent and committed to the pens in production.

All we’re asking is that you have some more patience and you will take delivery of your pens, albeit slightly later than expected. We get so many questions about this, even as we’ve sought to ramp up production much more than expected, given our timeline was for less than 1,000 pens, not 50,000.

We’ve learnt an absolutely tremendous amount during this project and we’re very eager to start on the next one, but that can only happen after every single one of our backers from this project has received their pens.

-

Thank you for being with us on this journey and we know you’ll love your ForeverPens.

-

Best wishes,

World’s Tiniest
